| When not writing and playing music, I serve as Development Director for the Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center in Portland OR (www.smyrc.org)-which is one of very few LGBTQ youth resource centers in the country. We serve over 1000 LGBTQ youth per year. In 2005, I managed to increase SMYRC funding by 15%, seeded a statewide LGBTQ Community Tobacco Prevention program, AND successfully lobbied Oregon's Board of Education to put the heretofore UNACKNOWLEDGED demographic category of "sexual orientation" onto the Oregon Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
I made and released this kick-ass live album with Portland's gay disco-grass prodigies, Sneakin' Out. Both the live recording and the release show were SOLD OUT! The record features spoken word by my favorite queer author Tom Spanbauer, who reads the passage from his book the Man Who Fell In Love with The Moon which inspired my song Devil's Pass.
Finally, I served on the Board of the Portland Q Center, which is the community's fledgling effort to get a queer center started. I contributed almost 500 CDs to LGBT related causes as auction items, including 200 CDs to the In Other Words Feminist Bookstore and Resource Center's annual fundraising dinner, and donated time as a musician to multiple fundraising benefits.
